The Screeching Sounds of Today’s Youth

Alright, let’s talk about this newfangled music. Back in my day, we had music. Real music. You know, the kind with a melody and lyrics that you could actually understand. Nowadays, all these kids listen to is that racket they call “music.” It’s like a bunch of cats fighting in a tin can.

I remember when rock and roll first came out. People said it was the devil’s music. But at least you could understand the words and maybe even catch a beat. This new stuff? It’s just noise.

I swear, I’ve heard more coherent conversations from a roomful of monkeys. And don’t even get me started on these music videos. All flashing lights and half-naked people. It’s enough to make a grown man blush.

But then, the other day, my granddaughter put on some of this new music. I was skeptical, of course. But as I listened, something unexpected happened. I started to feel a rhythm. A groove, if you will. And the lyrics, while a bit strange, were actually kind of catchy.

I still don’t understand half of it, but I have to admit, some of these new artists, like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, are pretty talented. Maybe this new generation isn’t so bad after all. Though I don’t think I’ll be doing the “Hot to Go Dance” anytime soon.

  1. The new generation is kinda more innovative than, u know…the 80s gang. I’m Gen Alpha myself and just a middle schooler…and listening to old songs makes me snore. Like, dude believe me, I’ve never been able to listen to even 2mins of an old – school song without snoring my head off. Don’t mean to disrespect ur opinion, but maybe it’s time to appreciate the way this generation does stuff. Not all’s wrong with today’s kids.

  2. Taylor Swift? I think the problem might not be the new music but with your hearing. Have it checked out.
